Greetings all!
I invite all of my theatre classes as a part of our curriculum, MS Frozen cast/crew, Decibelles, and International Thespian Society Members as enhanced curriculum, and theatre class/Frozen families for quality family time and creative bonding to join me for a musical competition to determine the winner of the Davis Musical March Madness Challenge. Each morning, two musicals will face-off as YOU, our Davis Theatre community, votes for their favorite musical through a Google Form with linked videos to that musical's Tony, PBS Great performance, or award-winning video.
Learn about a variety of musicals- from incredible lyrics to soul-stirring compositions, wonderfully perfected dance choreography, technical marvels in lighting, set and sound design as well as see some truly great performances! At the conclusion of the Musical Challenge, theatre students in Block 1, 2 and 3 will complete a reflection handout to be graded.
Musicals are divided into specific categories for specific reasons which will be detailed in a daily blog post with each daily 8am post. This blog will also be linked in the new section in my block 1, block 2, and block 3 classes.
4 musicals will be released at 9:00am this Monday (and every day this week!), and your vote must be in by 3:00pm. Then, once we have tallied the votes, the two winners from the morning will be released with a great big drumroll and perfectly executed Jazz Hands around 6:00pm each day for the next face-off.
For example (please read in a game-show announcer voice with all the drama and flair):
At 8 am, A bracket containing Tarzan vs King Kong and The Wizard of Oz vs Wicked is released!
Then, at 6 pm the winner of each bracket is announced and who they will face off with e.g. King Kong vs The Wizard of Oz
The next morning a new bracket it announced.
Each day's winner will then face off in a new bracket until we have one musical champion. May the best musical win. Blackout.
Break a leg, happy viewing, and inspired voting!
Ms. Kendrick
SNEAK PEEK!
